About Us

Created by Leanne Ringelstein in 2005 Queen St Pilates Studio is located in a dedicated space occupying the old Druids Meeting Hall in Queen St Croydon, South Australia. This beautiful space has been completely renovated to provide a fresh, spacious and welcoming environment.

The Croydon Studio offers daily classes in both Mat and Equipment, as well as specialised classes such as for Pensioners or Mothers with Babies.

What is Pilates?

It is a physical fitness regime created by Joseph Pilates in America in the 1920s with his wife Clara who was a nurse. It focuses on improved body awareness and posture, increases core stability for the spine and deeper abdominals, and emphasises correct breathing patterns and improved flexibility for the whole body. It strengthens and tones the physique, creating long lean muscles without placing pressure on the joints. There is an emphasis on quality of movement rather than quantity, leaving the body feeling relaxed, energised and focussed. Exercises are performed on specialised equipment or on mats on the floor. Pilates is suitable for every body from athletes to office workers, pregnant or new mothers, dancers, pensioners or anyone who requires rehabilitation.
